A visit, or a remote session
There are two ways to appear before me. I can come to you, or we can meet on a Texas-approved video platform. Both are notarial acts. They are not interchangeable for every document.
A traditional appointment is for paper, and for an electronic document that can be signed where I am standing. I travel in Lubbock and the South Plains. Mileage is calculated as a round trip from 3517 78th Drive. The first 10 miles are $10. Each mile after that is $1. Every signer must be in the room with a current government photo ID and the complete document.
A remote session is for an act that Texas law allows online. You appear live on camera. The platform checks the photo identification and asks identity questions. The session is recorded because Government Code § 406.108 requires it. I remain in Texas, as 1 Texas Administrative Code § 87.41 requires. You may be elsewhere only if that act may be done online. There is no travel fee. Each online act is the fee in Government Code § 406.024 plus a $25 online notarization fee.
The hours are the same for both. Monday through Friday, the hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, they are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. I do not take an appointment outside those hours. An evening or a weekend adds the posted time-of-day amount. A federal holiday does not.
Tell me the document and who must sign before we choose. If the act cannot be done online, I will say so, and we can set a visit if I can reach you. If a signer cannot be in the room, a remote session may be the one that works, but only if Texas law allows it. I do not offer a real-estate loan-signing package.
The person or company that will rely on the document decides whether to accept the certificate. That is especially true of a Texas online certificate. I do not control that decision. Ask the receiving party before we meet if you are not sure.
Neither appointment includes legal advice. I do not draft the document or tell you whether you should sign it. I am not an attorney licensed to practice law in Texas and may not give legal advice or accept fees for legal advice.
This note describes how I work. It is not legal advice.
Set a time.
Book an appointment, or call or text (806) 543-3374. Tell me the document and whether you need a visit or a video session.
