A cancellation is not an official act, so Texas Government Code § 406.024 does not allow a cancellation fee. Payment is due when you receive the invoice. I release the notarized documents only after that payment is received. Bring a current government photo ID. If the papers are incomplete, the ID is missing, or a signer will not sign, I cannot notarize, and there is no charge.

Remote Online Notary

We meet live on video. There is no travel fee, and I stay in Texas. You may be elsewhere only when Texas law allows that act online. You need a private place, a working camera, and a connection that can finish the identity check.

The session is recorded because Texas law requires it. Government Code § 406.108 requires a secure electronic record of the online notarization, and that record includes the video and audio conference. The Secretary of State’s rule requires the recording to show that identity proofing was completed, a look at the identification credential, and the notarial act. A traditional visit is not recorded. You cannot refuse the recording and still finish a remote session.

The recording is not the journal. The journal does not take an identification number or a fingerprint. The video will show the credential, because the rule requires me to look at it. The electronic record, including the recording, is kept at least five years. The person or company receiving the document decides whether to accept a Texas online certificate.

Each online act is the statutory fee plus a $25 online notarization fee. There is no travel fee. If the drive would be more than 60 miles from my house, a remote session is the way to save that trip, when Texas law allows the act online. Payment is due when you receive the invoice. I release the notarized documents only after that payment is received.
